SIGNmation is a producer of new media, open caption screenings and ASL-interpreted panels within film, theatre festivals and the entertainment industry. We produce and promote deaf artists and ASL productions, both live and streaming, with culturally accessible content for arts, theater, film and television. We offer creative consulting for fiscal budgets, grants and community outreach for its clients’ productions.

MAY 2023: Kimberly Akimbo: the Musical

The most Tony award-winning show of the season!

KIMBERLY AKIMBO features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner DAVID LINDSAY-ABAIRE (Rabbit Hole), music by Tony Award winner JEANINE TESORI (Fun Home), choreography by DANNY MEFFORD (Dear Evan Hansen) and direction by award-winning director JESSICA STONE.

Kimberly (Tony Award winner VICTORIA CLARK) is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. In this “howlingly funny heartbreaker of a show” (The New Yorker), Kim is forced to navigate family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush…and possible felony charges. Ever the optimist, she is determined to find happiness against all odds and embark on a great adventure.

2020 AFB Leadership Conference: A Conversation with Haben Girma, Disability Rights Lawyer and Author

AFB president and CEO, Dr. Kirk Adams, chatted with Haben Girma about her memoir Haben: The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law. The conversation also revolved around the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the intersection of racism and ableism, and the importance of accessible online spaces during the pandemic. An advocate for equal opportunities for people with disabilities, Girma was the first Deafblind person to graduate from Harvard Law School. President Obama named her a White House Champion of Change. She received the 2018 Helen Keller Achievement Award, and a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
